On October 21st, 2015, the Autistic Self Advocacy Network issued the following statement regarding Sesame Workshop’s “Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children” initiative:

ASAN is proud to be a partner in Sesame Workshop’s “Sesame Street and Autism: See Amazing in All Children” initiative. Over the past year, ASAN has worked closely with Sesame Workshop to ensure that the initiative and its materials are positive, respectful, and promote real understanding and acceptance of autistic people. The See Amazing initiative represents an important step forward in public conversations aimed at autism, one focused on celebrating all kinds of minds.

More information about the See Amazing initiative is available at http://autism.sesamestreet.org.  Sesame Workshop should be commended for reaching out to and focusing on the many voices of the autistic community at every stage of the process and working with a wide variety of stakeholders to produce a range of content aimed at ending stigma and increasing understanding and inclusion of autistic children. We hope that Sesame Workshop will continue this initiative, and help us all to see the amazing in ALL children.
