Volunteer positions

 

The Autistic Self Advocacy Network is looking for 3 volunteers to join our team!

These positions at ASAN are a great way to learn more about nonprofits, community organizing, and the disability rights movement while contributing to ASAN’s work, developing skills, and creating meaningful resources to benefit the Autistic community. Two of the openings, Content Volunteer and Community Engagement Volunteer, are remote and can be completed from anywhere on the globe. One position, Office Volunteer, requires someone based in the DC metro area who could be present in the ASAN office 2-3 times a week. Each opening represents about 5-10 hours of work a week.

Content Volunteer

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with ASAN’s social media staff, find & obtain web content in various formats (podcasts, videos, text, etc) for ASAN social media to circulate & signal-boost

  • Select previously published ASAN resources for circulation on social media

  • Coordinate ASAN blog

  • Create transcripts, captions, image descriptions etc as needed

Skills needed:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps

  • Familiarity with social media

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good written communication skills

 

 

Community Engagement Volunteer

Responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with ASAN’s Director Of Programs, respond to community inquiries regarding ASAN’s programming and resources

  • Develop a variety of community resources

  • Assist with projects such as ASAN’s Autism Acceptance Month campaign

  • Develop content and updates for the ASAN website

Skills needed:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps

  • Familiarity with WordPress web platforms and basic html

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good written communication skills

 

 

Office Volunteer

Responsibilities include:

  • Staff research assistance

  • Tracking organization metrics

  • Office support

Skills needed:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Apps

  • Good organizational skills

  • Good written communication skills
