TODAY: National Disability Call-In Day to Save Medicaid

A computer display showing the word "Medicaid"

Medicaid and waiver services are under attack. The most recent attempt at ACA repeal features cuts and caps to Medicaid that would cause serious damage to millions of people with disabilities. The Graham-Cassidy bill poses a threat to our community, and it needs to be stopped.

ASAN is cosponsoring a National Disability Call-In Day to Save Medicaid, taking place all day today! To participate, call the main Capitol line at (202) 224-3121 to tell your Members of Congress why you oppose this bill. Make sure to mark yourself as “going” on our Facebook event! If you need help, take a look at our guide to calling your elected officials, available in plain language and Easy Read versions.

After you’ve called in, here are some additional things you can do:

  • Attend a local rally. In the next week, lots of community organizations will be holding rallies to save health care, and they will need a disability presence. Check with other civil rights and social justice organizations in your area, and be on the lookout for actions that might be organized with very little notice.
  • Email your Senators. Access Living has an email tool you can use.
  • View the most up-to-date information about Graham-Cassidy and the fight to save Medicaid here.

You may have heard that the threat has gone away, but we’ve seen Congress bring dangerous repeal bills back from the dead before. This bill is too dangerous for us to let our guard down. We have to stay engaged until this is over for good. Call like your life depends on it – because for many of us, it does.
