Take action to support integrated employment for disabled people!

This year, we’ve worked together to push for the Transformation to Competitive Integrated Employment Act (TCIEA) to pass. TCIEA (bill number H.R.1263) gives states and employers help to move disabled employees from sheltered workshops to competitive integrated employment opportunities. Competitive integrated employment (CIE) means a job where disabled people are paid a fair wage and work with nondisabled people.

If your House representative is on the House Education & Workforce Committee, we especially need your help to get TCIEA passed.

Here’s how to find out if your representative is on the Education and Workforce committee:

  • First, see who your Representative is by entering your zip code here
  • Then, check if they are on the House Education and Workforce Committee list of members, here

If your representative is on the committee, contact them and set up a virtual meeting with them to talk about TCIEA.

We’ve made a guide that has a script for how to set up a meeting, information about what questions might be asked, and words to know. It also covers steps you can take if your representative isn’t on the committee.

You have the power to demand equal pay and integrated employment for our community. Speaking with your elected representative shows them that this issue matters to the people they represent. This is critical to making them take action. Your input can make a huge impact for disabled workers — take action and set up a meeting to pass TCIEA today!
